My comprehensive understanding of the challenges insurance services companies face – and how to solve them – was learned from 20 years working from the inside. After 10+ years developing and training company-wide teams for Canon, I joined the insurance industry in 1996 and within a year was AIA Singapore’s Company Wide Top New Rookie and a first-year MDRT Qualifier. This was soon followed by MDRT status for 1997 and 1998. I re-joined the firm in 2000, and in 2004 was appointed the Head of Training, leading the 4000 strong agency force to adopt Needs-Based Selling techniques. After founding the AIA Financial Health Check Academy in 2006, I led the team of trainers to push the boundary of learning and development via our signature 12-week Financial Health Check Practitioner and Leader Program, effectively closing the gap between learning and application and successfully turning training into changed behaviors.

In 2002 and 2009 as the Director of Agency, I led over 300 Agency Directors through innovative management and operational approaches that delivered results. One of many successful initiatives was the Big Rocks System, in which the Directors of Agency and Business Development Managers engaged the Agency Directors and Agency Managers in One on One Meetings to systematically support each other’s objectives. This resulted in a 20% increase in business within one year of operation. In 2012 I joined AIA Group Premier Academy as the Associate Director, responsible for supporting Heads of Training in China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Korea.

In 2016, I ventured out as an entrepreneur and started my Training and Coaching company, AVIPO Business Coaching Pte. Ltd. As a part of building this initiative, I traveled to the US to be certified as a Value Builder Business Coach. In addition, I am actively enrolled in the Jack Welch’s MBA program by the Jack Welch Management Institute with a focus on 21st Century Strategic Leadership, Intrapreneurship, and Entrepreneurship, enabling me to support my clients with the latest in leadership development.

I am a passionate life-long learner and am always upgrading my skill sets with the best practices to stay relevant and add immense value to my clients. During frequent US Learning trips and 4 years in Regional work, I have had the continual opportunity to meet and learn pioneering Leadership Development and Sales Effectiveness practices from many Gurus and Grand Masters in the U.S insurance services industry.
